D'partment biography

The story of the band began from a chat between Jonathan and Jaques some late summer day in 2003. As they were very good friends from their childhood and they had played in some mutual project in the past the conversation headed towards band issues. Both agreed about the need to get their musical urges into practice and the planning of a new hard rock group started.

The planning got so far, that the group was formed almost completely on that same table without the other members even knowing it yet. So, next time they met Charles, they told him, he's going to be the keyboardist in this new band, and there were no objections. Jaques called up Tune to come and see, if we had a mutual line and he ended up with guitar in his hands and microphone in front of him. So the work to get songs together started, but the drummer was still missing. After several ads in the net and tryouts, the drummer seat was filled by Salaud, and the group seemed whole.

After long hours in the training basement the demo recordings for the first release began. On the way a need of a separate singer was rising, and the searching began. But at this point Salaud stated, he was going to go back to his former band and he didn't have the time to play on both bands as he had other music related things going on also. But he promised to play the drums on the forthcoming recordings. So the drums were recorded and the band was still looking for a singer. Then one time Haiti, who had sang in some band of Jaques' before, came to the training place and after couple songs nobody had anything to ask. The band had a singer. Then the recordings were finished and the search for a new drummer was going on full speed.

Again after several ads, Niboe was found to the drummer seat, and finally there was a whole band for the first time. Then the serious training to fit the pieces together started and the band was ready to play before the audience. The first three-song CD-EP was released in the beginning of September 2004 and the band was concentrating for getting new material for forthcoming gigs.

Some gigs were done and Tune decided to leave the band due the long distance and urge for some heavier and blasting music. He then founded Cresdence, witch plays more that kind of music. D'partment came to the conclusion that for now on the band would go with only one guitar and doesn't look for a replacement for another one.

After a period Niboe came to a conclusion D'partment is not the right kind of music for him and he decided to leave the band. Again we had a line up shortage which fortunately didn't go on for long until we came across with Silli. He came and filled the shortage and everything seemed to go well again. But…

As we kept ourselves busy writing new material and doing some demo recordings our paths with Haiti were seemingly getting more and more distant and the result was that again we had a lie up shortage, which unfortunately was not new to us. This time it wasn't so easy to fill that place with high standards set on it.

Long time passed and some applicants were seen and heard and finally a demo recording was made with Les Misé. Unfortunately our paths together didn't go further much longer from those recordings but then out of nowhere came an old band mate of Silli's.

D'partment saw a new kind of light with Jennyfer and that new energy was the long waited power that drove D'partment towards a new dawn. Now we are stronger than ever and a new demo recording is coming out soon and we are looking forward to record a full length CD witch has been waited for a too long time already.

So keep tuned for more. The story continues…
